Captain Morgan and his crew of Morganettes are coming to Cheyenne to distribute 1,000 pre-paid “Safe Ride Home” taxi fare vouchers. The vouchers have a maximum value of $7 towards a safe ride home, and will be distributed to legal drinking age consumers at Cheyenne-area hot spots throughout Frontier Days festivities.

“This program provides Wyoming bar and restaurant staff with a valuable designated driver option,” said Bryan “ALF” Grzegorczyk, President of the Laramie County Liquor Association. “We want these vouchers to stimulate conversations that promote responsible drinking.”

Beginning July 22, local transportation providers Capital City Cab, Cowboy Shuttle and T I Shuttle will accept the Captain Morgan Safe Rides Home voucher.  Vouchers expire August 31, 2010.

“We understand that the rodeo in Wyoming places a premium on safety, and we hope that this program will become a staple to the rodeo festivities for fans and the local community,” said TJ Keighley, Captain Morgan Marketing Manager. “The Captain Morgan Safe Rides Home program provides the ideal platform to remind adult consumers that when they enjoy our products they should do so responsibly and always arrange for a safe ride home.”

Eligible consumers must be 21 or over.  Vouchers have no cash value and are non-transferable. Each voucher is good toward $7 of the total fare.  There are no refunds for unused portions, and the voucher does not count towards driver gratuity.

From the total pool of hopeful superstars coming to Hollywood, 10 will be selected to participate in the reality series, “Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star.”  At least one of the top five from the online popular vote is guaranteed a spot among the 10 on the series.

When auditions closed June 26, 2010, there were more than 9,500 online videos and more than 6,100 contestants who came to open casting calls in New Jersey, Texas, California and Georgia. Over 143 million votes were cast online and the results were carefully verified by a third party before the winners of the online competition were announced.

During the verification process, the final vote counts fluctuated, as votes that could not be authenticated were eliminated from the competition.   The verification process did not change the top 8 applicants with the most votes online.

“The response was amazing with over 15,000 people having auditioned,” said Executive Producer Mark Burnett. “Oprah Winfrey is such an inspiration and motivates people to seek their dreams. This response shows the enormity of those who wish to communicate their ideas on television.”

“Your OWN Show,” presented by Kohl’s and premiering on OWN in January 2011, will be a reality series in which contestants compete in a “host boot camp.” Challenges will range from booking interviews and researching story ideas, to successfully completing an actual screen test. The person selected to be the winner will receive a 6-episode commitment for his or her own show, executive produced by Mark Burnett, and scheduled to premiere on OWN in 2011.

The Hooters Girl contestants were selected to represent their hometowns by competing in local swimsuit contests or were individually chosen to represent their Hooters location.  They were selected from over 17,000 Hooters Girls worldwide who presently work in one of the 455 Hooters restaurants across the world.

The week leading up to the pageant the Hooters Girls will be participating in Hooters Magazine and Hooters Calendar photo shoots as well as supporting charitable efforts.  On Monday, July 5th the Hooters Girls will pack 20,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now, an international hunger relief agency that delivers meal packets throughout the world.  The Hooters Girls will also be making a trip to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital on Wednesday, July 7th to visit the children there.

The 14th Annual International Swimsuit Pageant will take place at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and will be broadcast live on Spike TV at 9 PM ET on July 10th, shown in Hooters restaurants across the country and streamed live at Hooters.com.  From evening gowns to swimsuits, the contestants will be judged by a distinguished panel of celebrity judges and photographers.

The first place contestant, Miss Hooters International 2010, will return home with the crown, title and the $50,000 first place prize.   She will represent Hooters for the year and be featured in the Hooters Magazine, Hooters Calendar and appear in national TV commercials.

Other awards will be presented to Miss Hooters World, representing Hooters 28 international countries; Miss Hooters Congeniality; Miss Hooters Magazine Reader’s Choice, who is selected based of voting at www.Facebook.com/Hooters and Miss Photogenic.

Mr. Kearns will perform as a guest artist with the prestigious San Bernardino Symphony. The program, “Symphony-Songs-Cinema,” will showcase Mr. Kearns’ magnificent voice in concert with a 60-piece orchestra at the direction of Maestro Frank Paul Fetta, conductor and artistic director of the Redlands Bowl Summer Festival – the oldest continuous U.S. music festival.

Kearns’ repertoire will include operetta pieces, Neapolitan songs, and American standards – including songs by legendary tenor and Hollywood actor, Mario Lanza.

“I’m honored to be performing in this stunning setting, on a summer night under the stars, with the San Bernardino Symphony, one of the finest orchestras in Southern California,” said Kearns.

Kearns said he also looks forward to performing on Sunday at Anaheim when the Los Angeles Angels take on the Colorado Rockies. Kearns will sing The Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America, and lead fans from both teams as they sing Take Me Out to the Ball Game during the 7th inning stretch.

“I’m thrilled the Angels invited me to sing at the ball game for what’s sure to be a fantastic, all-American experience,” said Kearns.  Kearns is perhaps the most high-profile celebrity performer to sing at Anaheim this season.

Mr. Kearns arrived in the Golden State after what critics called a “top notch” performance as Don Jose in Carmen, the French opera by Georges Bizet, with the cast of Glasthule Opera at Pavilion Theatre, in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland.  Other roles he has mastered include Fenton in Falstaff (in Italy), Rinuccio in Gianni Schicci, and as lead tenor in Gounod’s Faust.

When he is not touring with The Irish Tenors, or embarking on special projects, Mr. Kearns enjoys a flourishing career as a solo artist. Last month, he celebrated the 10th anniversary of his first U.S.-Canadian solo performance at Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA. His latest projects include taping a PBS Special in Prague called “Halleluiah Broadway” with three other singers (to air in August 2010), singing Romeo for Naples [FL] Opera company’s production Romeo & Juliet: Then and Now, and appearances on American television on The Martha Stewart Show, Huckabee and Fox & Friends.

Last month, Mr. Kearns lent his stunning Irish tenor voice to the National Memorial Day Choral Festival dedicated to America’s military troops at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.  He also sang Amazing Grace a cappella at the National Moment of Remembrance during the National Memorial Day Parade before 300,000 people, and during the parade’s pre-program for V.I.P. guests in the nation’s capital city.

On May 12, Paulie and Eddie got started bright and early, harmonica and guitar by their sides, along with their tool belts.
